Live. Fire in Aude: Firefighters hope to "contain the fire within a day"

An exceptionally violent fire broke out Tuesday in the Corbières massif in the Aude department. Since its outbreak, the largest fire of the summer in France has swept through more than 16,000 hectares of scrubland and coniferous forests, destroyed or damaged 25 homes, left one person dead and three missing.
Among the injured are a civilian in critical condition after suffering serious burns and eleven firefighters. This is "a disaster of unprecedented proportions," according to Prime Minister François Bayrou, who visited the scene Wednesday with several ministers. This fire is already the largest in France in the 21st century. "All the nation's resources are being mobilized," Emmanuel Macron assured Tuesday evening.
